SAMUEL BOYLE, REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN MISSIONARY STATESMAN

Sam Boyle was called to his heavenly home on Sept. 30, at age 97. A missionary to China, Hong Kong, and Japan between 1934 and 1975, Boyle worked with the National Reform Association, and was a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. for the Christian Amendment Movement for some years.

The Reformation Translation Fellowship (RTF) which began in China in 1948 to translate of Reformed theological works into Chinese was one of many enduring missionary ventures tracing their roots to Boyle's work. In Kobe, Japan, Boyle started the Covenanter Book Store early in 1952, which is still in operation-as is the RTF.

In 1932 Boyle was graduated from the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, and was ordained to the gospel ministry in the Reformed Presbyterian Church (RPCNA). Boyle served the Eskridge R.P. Church in Kansas, East End R.P. Church in Pittsburgh, and later at Sterling R.P. Church in Kansas.
