	Description: It may be questioned whether any body of students in a divinity school ever received a course of lectures on the Reformation comparable to the series delivered by William Cunningham (1805-1861), Professor of Church History at New College, Edinburgh. They describe the volume as 'an orderly series of discussions, embracing the leading historical characters and the great developments of scriptural truth at the time of the Reformation'. He believed that the Scriptures teach clear and definite doctrines and that the spiritual revival and controversies of the 16th century were inseparably linked to the powerful restatement of those doctrines.
